Our entire Primary 6 class attended Glasgow's Toryglen Football Centre on Wednesday for the eagerly awaited Scottish Schools Football Association (SSFA) National Junior Sevens finals event.

After a superb run of form to secure success in the Glasgow Area and subsequent West of Scotland Regional finals, our team of 10 P6 pupils relished the opportunity to test their skills against 7 other teams from across Scotland.

The team entered the competition undefeated and had high hopes for further success. The standard across the schools were incredibly high, resulting in narrow losses during their opening two games. In their 3rd fixture the team overcame a deficit to record their first victory, against the eventual finalists. Unfortunately their initial defeats had ruled out the possibility of place in the final, but cheered on by a noisy army of friends and family, the team ended the tournament with a feeling of great pride, achieving a 2-0 victory in their final game. Well done to Archie McS, Calvin N, Ewan A, Fraser, John, Kai, Mason, Nathan, Saif and Zak!

At the beginning of the 2017-18 school session these avid footballers had not played a competitive game together as a whole team. Thanks to the coaching of parent helper Robert and Mr Lockyer, all of the attendees at the P6 after-school football club have made significant progress this year. They can look forward to next session where there will be plenty of further opportunities.
