Supporting All Learners at WCPS

Supporting All Learners at Wester Cleddens Primary

Our vision at Wester Cleddens Primary is that all children are ‘happy together, learning together and achieving together’.

We aim to meet the needs of all children within the school, ensuring they are supported effectively in their learning, in line with national and local policy and guidelines.

All children require support with their learning. Sometimes however, your child may require some additional support with their learning for a wide variety of reasons.  Support in place may be classroom based strategies, for example, your child is given 5 minutes’ extra practice of reading or spelling, or it may involve support from other agencies e.g. Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychologist, Wellbeing Support Teacher.  Support can be short or long-term.

Classroom based approaches are normally referred to as ‘Universal Support’ and support which involves the input from other agencies is normally referred to as ‘Targeted Support’.

We have created a Parent Guide explaining in further detail what ‘Universal and Targeted Support’ at Wester Cleddens looks like and what it involves.  We hope you find this guide useful, however, should you have any further questions or concerns regarding support for your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
